The weather forecast appears here from Monday 16 November (about two weeks before the ride).
About this ride
The ride leader is Peter Williams and I will be at the Red Rooms, Arrowe Park from 10.15am, ready to start the ride at 10.30 am.
An easy ride of about 13 miles from Red Rooms, Arrowe Park to join the WCG Christmas Party at The Lever’s Club, Port Sunlight.
Please note –
The buffet will be £10.50 by bank transfer to WCG with name and xmas as the tag.
There will be a group photo at 12.25 plan to eat at 12.45 and a prize for the best xmas outfit and decorated bike.
There will be a raffle so if anyone has any cycling related gifts to donate bring to the AGM. Small and wrapped if possible. Any leftover funds will go to Charity in honour of Andy Mace .
Bring money for the raffle and the bar will be open.
If the weather is too bad the ride may have to be cancelled, but the lunch will still go ahead.
We will be at the Lever Club just after 12 noon for a prearranged buffet lunch.
This will be a fun day and it would be great if you can come in Christmas jumpers, Elves or Santa suits. You may also want to decorate your bike with tinsel and lights, but make sure its all well secured so as not to cause any problems.
Route:- We will set off from Arrowe Park at a gentle pace of 8 – 10 mph in the direction of Barnston to Join the top Chester Road at the Glegg Arms Roundabout (short sharp climb out of Barnston Dale). From the top Chester Road we will join Boathouse Lane and then half way down join Leighton Road to Neston.
Pausing in Neston will give us the opportunity to take some photographs before setting off again along Hinderton Road. There is a steady climb (2 – 4%) here for about 1 mile to the top of Quarry Road. After that it is pretty much plain sailing to Port Sunlight, getting to our destination between 12 and 12.30pm
Route Back:- for those wishing to get back to Arrowe Park after the event, the return journey will be via Rest Hill Road, Station Road and Barnston

Possible obstacles No major problems with this route, much of it is familiar to most of us, we will use cycle lanes where available and take extra care when crossing any main roads and look for pedestrian crossings / islands and traffic lights.
